The coralarium

Discover our original offshore art installation! Created by Jason deCaires Taylor, the acclaimed British underwater sculptor, this stylish semi-submerged cube seamlessly blends the worlds of art and sustainability. The planet’s first tidal art exhibition, this interactive sculpture is a coral breeding ground that provides a home to many local species, and can also teach guests the skills of coral propagation.

LOREM IPSOM

Dedicated to the mantra “Reduce – Reuse – Recycle”, this innovative facility is a place of creation where guests and local schoolchildren can come and learn about the importance of environmental protection, and how they can be part of the solution. With state-of-the-art extrusion moulding machinery used resort plastics are given a new life in the form of island inspired souvenirs such as turtle key chains and fishing net bracelets.

Sustainability Efforts

TURTLE PROTECTION

At our resort, we diligently monitor our beaches for turtle nesting activity. Various species of turtles regularly visit our shores to lay their eggs. When a turtle arrives, our marine biologist secures the nest and keeps a close watch on it. When it’s time for the eggs to hatch, we assist the hatchlings in safely reaching the ocean. During our snorkeling trips we collect data about our resident reef turtles and support Olive Ridley Project in collecting virtal data about Maldives’ turtle population.

SOLAR ENERGY & WASTE MANAGEMENT

Sirru Fen Fushi is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint and generates electricity from 3307 solar panels on 11 rooftops, adding up to 1041.7 kW of clean, renewable energy. Additionally, the resort is planing for additional solar power generation by adding more panels in the future. Waste management is vitally important on our pristine coral atoll. We convert food waste to compost, which is then utilized in the recently added Chef’s Garden.

Our dedicated chefs maintain the garden and grow organic herbs, vegetables, and fruits. It is an excellent example of using organic fertilizer to improve soil, prevent eutrophication, and grow healthy food for guests and team members. The Chef’s Garden’s produce allows us to lessen the need for externally sourced products, further reducing our carbon footprint.

ISLAND WATER

Most of our drinking water is sourced from our state-of-the-art desalination plant. Using advanced reverse osmosis techniques, seawater is purified and transformed into fresh, high-quality drinking water. This water is then tested to ensure it meets the highest standards before being bottled in our reusable glass containers, significantly reducing plastic waste.

Our Sirru Fen Fushi water, with its natural minerality, pairs perfectly with island cuisine and is available in both still and sparkling varieties.
